The spirit of legendary dancer and choreographer Honey Daniels is alive and well in the form of troubled 17-year-old Maria Ramirez (Katerina Graham). After a brush with the law, she's determined to get back on the straight and narrow. It's a grinding existence, but a rare night out leads to a local club where Maria rediscovers the sheer joy of letting go on the dancefloor. Her exuberance and killer moves attract the attention of Brandon (Randy Wayne), a volunteer at the local recreation centre. Maria is just the person he needs to help discipline a bunch of talented but rather uncoordinated dancers called the HDs. But it's not going to be an easy ride, especially as her old boyfriend Luis (Christopher Martinez) also re-emerges. Can Maria avoid being drawn back into the street life she's trying so hard to escape?
